Right in the heart of Austin's hill country on 2222 (in the Jester shopping center) between 360 and the big hill is terrific Asian restaurant called Bamboo Asian Grille.
For starters the decor in this place is very unique. They've imported hand crafted bamboo items from their travels to Asia, and brought it together their expertise in Chinese and Vietnamese cuisines all to deliver a special dining experience. We love the feel of this place. It's family friendly and the waitstaff are generally dressed in traditional Vietnamese attire.
Bamboo Asian Grille is owned by the people who have been supplying Asian restaurants all over Austin with the meats they serve for years, until they decided to open a restaurant. This is probably part of the key to their success, which has led to them opening 2 successful restaurants and still have a third one on the way. The result... Spectacular Asian food.
We recommend the popular Vietnamese dish, Vermicelli and also the (Pho) Beef Noodle Soup. The Vermicelli is excellent at DragonFly, served with grilled pork and an Imperial Roll, on top of shredded carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, bean sprouts, chopped peanuts and a side of fish sauce. MMMM-MMMM. For only $7 you just can't beat this deal, the serving is a feast all by itself.
You can still find all of the traditional Chinese and Vietnamese dishes at DragonFly. They carry everything from General Tso's to Kung Pao to Mongolian and Szechuan, but also they make some things you may not have ever tried. Like Curry Chicken or Pork Clay Pot. They also have a Vegetarian section of the menu and a kid's menu.
We certainly will be back for more, and recommend you do the same.
