We found a great little East Coast style sub shop in Round Rock called Hoody's Sub Shop.  The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Hood otherwise known as "Hoody" was right there behind the counter to personally make our sandwiches.  Interestingly enough, he's been doing that for his very loyal base of customers for over 19 years.  And it shows...  He seemed to know many of customers pretty well.  An obvious sign of their level of satisfaction with the food and service.

This restaurant is located just next to Round Rock High School, and is really popular with the kids as well as adults in the area.  No matter the line size, Hoody's seems to really have a grip on how to get the food out quick, hot when necessary, and very, very good.

We found Hoody's to be very generous with the key ingredients.  For instance the Philly Cheesesteak comes highly recommended, and for good reason.  It was a 12" long sandwich loaded with grilled ribeye steak, cheese, mushrooms, onions and peppers.  A lot of places add mushrooms and peppers as filler to replace the steak.  But not Hoody's.  This Philly was hefty on steak and just the right blend of the rest.

"Hoody" believes that the quality of the meat is important, so he buys all of his meats from Boarshead.  His sandwiches show it, especially since he grills the meat, onions, etc. right after you order it.  That kind of fresh is not generally found in the chain shops.

The prices are reasonable, the food is fresh and very tasty.   If you're a TastyKakes lover you'll find them for only a buck.  (we hear that's the best price around) Looking for a quick and affordable lunch in Round Rock?  During lunch you'll get a sub, chips and 24oz drink for only $5.50.
