Satay Restaurant - Austin, Texas
We are very pleased to introduce you to the Satay Restaurant and Dr. Foo Swasdee, Food Scientist and restaurant owner.  In just a few minutes of conversation with Foo, you'll realize how very sweet and knowledgable she really is.  In fact, her accomplishments have even been written about in major newspapers like the NY Times.

Why the buzz about Dr. Foo?  She has applied her food science to her own restaurant's menu and from that created a line of award winning, all-natural sauces that are sold in over 500 stores across the country.  Honestly we felt somewhat privileged to be eating at Satay.  And for good reason... this restaurant has been in business for over 20 years and the food is sensational.

We started off with a palate cleanser called Miang Khum, (individual spinach wraps with bits of fresh ginger, garlic, whole lime, red onion, roasted peanuts and coconut and served with SATAY’s Coconut Salsa)  Probably something we would have never ordered on our own, but we really enjoyed it.  As a matter of fact, right afterward we bought the sauce from her, so that we could attempt to recreate this appetizer at home.

Then to the Kampung Udang which is whole shrimp in a red curry sauce cooked in a “Hor Mok” style Terra-cotta plate, topped with coconut cream, julienne Ma-Grud and Cilantro.  This is also an appetizer, but left us wishing for more.

Satay features a number of unique and tasty choices like the "Shipwreck soup which is served in a Fire Pot and filled with a mix of seafood, tomatoes and mushrooms. (Great dish for seafood lovers)

Your choices range from various noodles, rices, soups and salads to Curries, stir fry dishes and grilled favorites.

All of this authentic Thai and South Asian cuisine comes to you in a very comfortable and classy atmosphere filled with Asian decor.  Once inside of Satay, you'll feel like you're in a sort of "Fine Dining" setting... which will be confirmed by the food, but the prices are very reasonable.  Catering and private parties are also available.

If you haven't ever been to Satay Restaurant, we strongly recommend you go soon.
