website and menu
Going in, we expected to be dining at a sandwich shop. As it turns out they make Paninis, subs, salads, soups and Pizzetti. (An individual Neopolitan-style thin crust pizza.) One thing we noticed right away was the large portions. The sandwiches and salad were large, and even the individual sized Pizzetti was closer to the size of a medium pizza in other places.
The chef-inspired menu is loaded with bold and unusual selections you may not have ever heard of. For instance, the "Sausalito Bandido" - a panini sandwich made with sausalito turkey, roasted red peppers, sundried tomatoes, pepperjack cheese and a chipotle mayo. Or the "Yard Bird", a sub sandwich with roasted chicken, bacon, fresh apples, (that's right, apples!) spinach leaves, bleu cheese crumbles and honey mustard. This sandwich is bursting with flavor, we recommend that you step out of your box and try this one for sure. Some of the combinations sound pretty unusual but they really work. You'll love it.
We also tried the Sonoma Pizzetti. Wow! This one HAS to be very popular. You know pizza, you've ordered delivery a time or fifty right? Your expectation of a pizza may soon change. The "Sonoma" has that thin crust, (we love) with sundried tomatoes, robust fresh mozzarella, rosemary and mozzarrella and tomato sauce. (Wow may not be strong enough of a word.) What a delicious combination for this pizzetti, we loved the fresh mozzarrella.
You can even build your own sandwich. They have a long list of ingredients to choose from starting with fresh baked (made from scratch) breads like ciabatta or rosemary focaccia, eleven different meats, nine different cheeses, and a large list of toppings and spreads. This is your opportunity to see if you can create a masterpiece.
Spicy Pickle is a "fast-casual" restaurant, basically the quality of a casual resaurant in sort of a fast food setting. It's a fun place with fast growing popularity. It will probably take multiple visits to experience the whole of their extraordinary food, so get started.
